Abstract The linearisation of a second-order formulation the conformal Einstein field equations (CEFEs) in Generalised Harmonic Gauge (GHG), with trace-free matter is derived. linearised are obtained for general background and then particularised study linear perturbations around flat —the inversion (conformal) representation Minkowski spacetime— solutions discussed. We show that generalised Lorenz gauge (defined as analogue GHG-gauge) propagates. Moreover, equation factor can be trivialised an appropriate choice source functions; this permits scri-fixing strategy using functions wave-like CEFE-GHG, which principle to nonlinear case. As particular application equations, far-field compact approximation employed derive quadrupole-like formulae various fields such perturbation rescaled Weyl tensor.

Einstein Manifolds and Conformal Field Theories
In light of the AdS/CFT correspondence, it is natural to try to define a conformal field theory in a large N , strong coupling limit via a supergravity compactification on the product of an Einstein manifold and anti-de Sitter space. We consider the fivedimensional manifolds T pq which are coset spaces (SU(2)×SU(2))/U(1). The central charge and a part of the chiral spectrum are calculated, resp...
متن کاملSymmetric Vacuum Einstein Field Equations
According to Birkhoff’s theorem the only spherically symmetric solution of the vacuum Einstein field equations is the Schwarzschild solution. Inspite of imposing asymptotically flatness and staticness as initial conditions we obtain that these equations have general solutions with the Schwarzschild metric as merely a special and simplest form of them. It is possible to have perfect and smooth m...
متن کاملOn the Einstein-Weyl and conformal self-duality equations
The equations governing anti-self-dual and Einstein-Weyl conformal geometries can be regarded as ‘master dispersionless systems’ in four and three dimensions respectively. Their integrability by twistor methods has been established by Penrose and Hitchin. In this note we present, in specially adapted coordinate systems, explicit forms of the corresponding equations and their Lax pairs. In parti...
متن کاملA Conformal Hyperbolic Formulation of the Einstein Equations
We propose a re-formulation of the Einstein evolution equations that cleanly separates the conformal degrees of freedom and the non-conformal degrees of freedom with the latter satisfying a first order strongly hyperbolic system. The conformal degrees of freedom are taken to be determined by the choice of slicing and the initial data, and are regarded as given functions (along with the lapse an...
متن کاملNumerical treatment of the hyperboloidal initial value problem for the vacuum Einstein equations I. The conformal field equations
This is the first in a series of articles on the numerical solution of Friedrich’s conformal field equations for Einstein’s theory of gravity. We will discuss in this paper why one should be interested in applying the conformal method to physical problems and why there is good hope that this might even be a good idea from the numerical point of view. We describe in detail the derivation of the ...
